“Thomas Dufour is a leader who will fight for good-paying jobs and investments in infrastructure in Brook Park. Thomas comes from a family of coal miners and small business owners, and he understands that the Dignity of Work is not just a slogan, it’s how we govern — that’s why I’m proud to endorse Thomas Dufour for Brook Park City Council.”

Our Revolution – Ohio

“Sometimes we meet a candidate who takes us by surprise.  Thomas Dufour was one of them.  In explaining attending a city council meeting where an issue was being discussed around a technology issue, he, as a citizen, volunteered his service and skills to help resolve the issue.

Since then he has been involved as a volunteer and  the founder and first chair of the Technology and Innovation Committee. They put forward research on implementing green energy solutions to power city buildings, as well as put forward research on converting all city vehicles to electric vehicles, and more.

In addressing the issues of economic recovery in Brook Park, he has some innovative ideas:

“Since the closing of the Ford Engine #2 Plant, our city has been in dire financial straits. As such, general infrastructure maintenance and other investments in our community have faltered. Rebuilding our city’s economic backbone in a resilient manner is paramount to the future success of our city.

For starters, our town is without a walkable main street district. By updating the zoning codes, we have the ability to pursue a walkable district, with locally owned businesses – created in a locally funded startup incubator that I plan to work on starting. I plan to further encourage the county to pursue building an infrastructure bank which would allow communities – not just ours, to borrow money at extremely low interest rates which will go a long way in repairing defective infrastructure.”
